A lovely portfolio of 18 patterns.  There is not much writing, but every pattern comes with photograph, pricking, number of bobbins and the thread used in the photographed piece. 

 

Every pattern has a colour coded diagram.  Techniques include Binche, Flanders, Paris Ground and Duchesse.

Another excellent volume from Ulrike.  The title means "rib and roll". 

 

The prickings for this book reflect the developments of historical techniques and their patterns.  Lace makers  of Honiton, Duchesse or Withof will recognise how Ulrike has developed the rib and roll technique.

 

The book includes a 42 page technical section which offers many solutions to recurring problems.  The prickings indicate degree of difficulty.  There are the usual excellent diagrams and photographs throughout the book, with prickings and photographs for each of the 38 patterns.

Dentelle de Valenciennes, Les Bases, by Sophie Houpeurt-Mollaret.

 

15 patterns with lovely photographs, coloured diagrams and prickings.  the book includes suggestions for items that can be made with the lace, including a christening gown.

Jour Anciens de Cilaos, Ile de la Reunion, by Mick Fouriscot and suzanne Maillot.

 

In this form of needle lace, threads are removed from linen cloth.  The holes thus formed are oversewn, and then additional threads are laid across the holes and decorated with needle lace to give a variety of patterns.

 

The result could be said to resemble early Teneriffe work.  Many varieties of filling stitch are presented, together with 9 coloured motifs at the end of the book.  The basic technique is very clearly illustrated and many samples provided.

 

French Language, but definitely do-able.

Regency Collection, Part Two, The Near Pavilion, by Jean Mary Eke and Sandi Woods

 

This charming booklet reflects the Royal Pavilion, built at Brighton England by George, Prince of Wales during the Regency Period.

 

The book includes four patterns, with much detail for the first two patterns of The Bird Pavilion and the Pavillion Flower.  All four patterns prickings, pictures and instruction.

Regency Collection, Part One, A Very English Lace, by Angela Brown, Jean Mary Eke, Joke Sinclair and Sandi Woods.

 

Another charming booklet which reflects lace of the period from 1775 to 1837.  The first three patterns are for two small Bedfordshire motifs which are then incorporated into a Bedfordshire Roundel. 

 

The fourth pattern is called Regency Baby Lace and is for an edging which is accompanied by pricking, picture and colour coded diagram.  This is followed by a small, decorative sprig, complete with picture, pricking, diagram and instructions.
